Submission system
All abstracts must be submitted online through www.myESR.org/abstractsubmission, our submission system, where a guiding layout for the required information in your abstract is provided.

Deadline
The abstract submission is open from August 3 to September 30, 2026 (23:59 CEST).

All abstracts must be submitted online through an ESR account, via our submission system, where a guiding layout for the required information in your abstract is provided.
Submitter/Presenter
The submitter and the presenting author do not need to be the same person. During submission, you may designate any co-author as the presenting author. Once your submission phase has concluded, all congress-related communications will be sent exclusively to the designated presenting author. Submitters and co-authors will not receive notifications and the presenting author will be responsible for the oral presentation and/or poster upload.
Presentation formats
You may indicate a preferred presentation format during the time of the submission. However, the Programme Planning Committee will determine the final format, which may differ from your preferred one. The assigned format will be communicated in the decision notification email. Duplicate submissions
You must not submit the same abstract more than once. The submission of duplicate abstracts will lead to the immediate rejection of the abstract(s) involved. If a duplicate submission is detected, the presenting author will be notified by email.
Edit your submission
If you wish to amend a submitted abstract, you may request to reopen it at any point before the submission system closes. Log in to your account, navigate to My Abstracts, and select Abstract Submission. From there, choose Request a change to reopen your abstract for editing. Once your edits are complete, please make sure to resubmit. Abstracts that are not resubmitted will not be considered for the congress.
Case reports
Unfortunately, case reports are not eligible to be accepted.
“A case report includes three or fewer cases (e.g., patient, animal, cadaver, phantom, AI system output, or similar imaging subject). In addition, it is case-centered, meaning its primary purpose is to describe and highlight what is unique, interesting, or educational about those cases.”
If your submission is case-centered and discusses less than three cases, it will be considered a case report and, therefore, rejected, even if additional cases are intended to be added at a later stage.
We recommend submitting case reports to the ESR’s teaching case platform, EURORAD, here. You can also consider submitting your case report to the Case-Based Diagnosis Training Session (When imaging changes management), here.
Proofreading
Please ensure your abstract is thoroughly proofread for spelling, grammatical, and scientific accuracy prior to submission. Proofreading will not be conducted by the ESR office, and accepted abstracts will be published as submitted.
Presenter registration
Valid congress registration is mandatory to present your abstract or to have your poster displayed during the congress and/or permanently published after the congress.*
*Does not apply to presenters with the “EuroSafe Imaging Poster” final presentation format.
A reduced registration fee of EUR 400,- is available for all presenting authors of accepted oral and poster abstracts who are ESR members in good standing by August 31, 2026. Presenting authors of accepted abstracts without ESR 2026 membership (or membership settled after the deadline) can still register for ECR 2027 with the Opening Fee.
Important information:
- The Presenter Member ticket will be available after the decision notification email is sent in December 2026.
- This offer will only be available if registration is finalised by December 17, 2026, and only applies to the presenting author (not first or any other authors).
- If the presenting author cannot register for the congress, they have the option to make an attending co-author or colleague the presenting author so that this person can present their work at the congress.
- Each abstract receives one reduced registration ticket for the presenting author. Once the reduced registration payment is completed, the ticket is not transferable.
- If the presenter change occurs before the reduced registration payment is completed, the reduced registration fee benefit is transferred to the new presenting author, provided they are eligible for the reduced registration rate.
Please note that the ESR will not refund any previously paid registration fees, including in cases of special offers, subsequent ticket changes or membership-related changes.

Presentation Formats
Oral Presentation
Oral presentation abstracts will be considered for two session types:
(1) Research Presentation (RP), consists of a 9-minute oral presentation and discussion.
(2) Clinical Trials in Radiology (CTiR), which allows an 8-minute presentation dedicated to ongoing or recently finished multicentre trials that are likely to impact clinical practice in the future, followed by a 4-minute discussion.
‣ The following studies are eligible:
- Multicentre studies of any design (can be submitted with their study design, baseline data, or results).
- Single-centre studies (only if randomised and results are available).
Poster Presentation
EPOSTM is the ESR’s Electronic Presentation Online System for scientific and educational posters.
Posters submitted for ECR will be part of the scientific exhibition at the congress and can also be published permanently on the EPOS™ online viewing platform.
The poster presentation format is divided into four categories:
- (1) EPOS™ for Radiologists (standard scientific3 studies, educational4 descriptions).
- (2) EPOS™ for Radiographers (radiological technologists).
- (3) EuroSafe Imaging5 (poster abstracts submitted with the keyword “Radioprotection” will be reviewed for the EuroSafe poster category).
- (4) EIBIR6 Booth Session.
Student Presentation
Student Sessions will take place as part of the student programme of the congress.
Students and radiographers in training are encouraged to submit abstracts on the topics listed below:
- My educational or social project at my university.
- My scientific paper in the field of Artificial Intelligence (AI).
- My scientific paper in sustainability in everyday life.
- My first scientific paper in imaging (general radiology).

Be featured in an EIBIR Booth Session!
EIBIR is pleased to once again host dedicated poster sessions at the EIBIR Booth during ECR 2027. These sessions will highlight cutting-edge biomedical imaging research and provide researchers with a unique opportunity to present and discuss their work while increasing its visibility within the EIBIR community and beyond.
Submissions to the “EIBIR Booth Session” will be considered for an oral presentation during these dedicated sessions.

As part of our ongoing commitment to nurturing the next generation of radiologists, the European Society of Radiology is proud to invite undergraduate students for a chance to present at ECR 2027: Healthcare Reimagined in Vienna through our dedicated Student Abstract Submission Programme.
The 20 most outstanding abstract submitters will be invited to attend ECR 2027, where they will have the opportunity to present their work in front of an international audience of experts and peers.
Selected students will receive:
- Free congress registration for ECR 2027.
- Round-trip travel (economy class flight or train).
- Four nights of accommodation in a pre-selected hotel.
- A certificate of participation after the congress.
How to apply:
Undergraduate students under the age of 30 are welcome to submit an abstract by September 30, 2026 (23:59 CEST). This includes medical students with an interest in radiology and radiography students. During the submission process, please indicate your preferred presentation format and ensure your topic aligns with the dedicated student topics listed below.
Students and radiographers in training are encouraged to submit abstracts on the following topics:
- My scientific paper in sustainability in everyday life.
- My educational or social project at my university.
- My scientific paper in the field of Artificial Intelligence (AI).
- My first scientific paper in imaging (general radiology).

EPOS™ PULSE – Presenting Unique Live Science and Education offers selected top-rated poster presenters the opportunity to deliver a concise live presentation within the EPOS™ Area at ECR 2027. It provides an occasion to share research, receive feedback, and engage with fellow professionals.
Participation is by invitation only and will be offered to eligible presenters following the abstract rating process. Selected presenters will be notified via the decision notification email, which will also include sign-up instructions through their ESR account.

Abstract Presenters who are Full Members in Training and are eligible for the offer will receive a notification in December 2026 to complete their registration (rejected applicants will still be able to register for ECR 2027 for the reduced Opening Fee).
Please make sure to use the account with the same Personal ID for registration that was used to submit the abstract(s).

For the selection of final recipients, abstract submission and geopolitical location are considered. The ESR reserves the right to grant the offer at its sole discretion.
Outstanding research deserves recognition. ECR 2027 presents awards across different presentation formats, celebrating the most exceptional contributions to the field of radiology.
All awards are presented to the current presenter at a dedicated Abstract Award Ceremony during the congress. Further details will be communicated by email.

Some tips and tricks for your writing process
We recommend drafting your abstract in a standard word processing system before copying and pasting the sections into the appropriate spaces in the submission system. This gives you the flexibility to write, revise, and refine your text before committing to a final version. All abstracts must be submitted in English using standard Latin characters; submissions in other languages will be withdrawn. Please do not include references, acknowledgements, graphics, tables, or figures in the abstract body.

After completing your abstract, click “Save Abstract”.
To finalise your submission, click Preview and Submit at the bottom of the page and review your abstract carefully. Once you are satisfied, click Submit Abstract. You will be returned to the Abstract Submission main page, where a message will confirm that your abstract has been successfully submitted.
Submitted and in-progress abstracts can both be viewed on the Abstract Submission main page. If an abstract is marked as in progress, click Edit to complete the submission. If it is marked as submitted, it can be viewed but not edited unless reopened.
If you wish to amend a submitted abstract, you may request to reopen it at any point before the submission system closes. Log in to your account, navigate to My Abstracts, and select Abstract Submission. From there, choose Request a change to reopen your abstract for editing. Once your edits are complete, please resubmit; abstracts that are not resubmitted will not be considered for the congress.

Get notified!
Decision notifications (acceptance or rejection, and final presentation format) will only be emailed to the presenting author (not the submitting author or co-authors) in December 2026. Please make sure to confirm your invitation for an oral presentation within the timeframe indicated in the notification email.
Where will my accepted abstract be published?
Abstracts of accepted Research Presentation, Clinical Trials in Radiology and Student Sessions will be published in the ECR 2027 Book of Abstracts (as a supplement to “Insights into Imaging”, open access under the Creative Commons Attribution License 4.0).
If the abstract is accepted as a poster, the presenting author will upload the digital material of the poster within the given deadline. The option to permanently publish the poster on the EPOS™ platform will be available after the congress, including registration with a DOI (digital object identifier) and publication under an open license as outlined in the Agreement for the Use of EPOS™.
If the presenting author (not submitter or any of the co-authors) agrees to publish, the poster will be published on the EPOS™ online viewing platform (not part of the Book of Abstracts).
*Valid congress registration of the presenting author is mandatory to present the abstract or to have the poster shown during the congress and/or permanently published after the congress.
Publication ethics
- The abstract does not contain any material that is libellous, defamatory, or otherwise unlawful. It does not include any material that invades privacy rights or infringes proprietary rights or copyrights.
- The abstract does not reveal patient identity. If there is any possibility that a patient can be identified, written informed consent from the patient has been obtained for use in the abstract.
- A single study is not split up into several parts to increase the quantity of submissions and submitted to various journals or to one journal over time (e.g. “salami-slicing”).
- If the work contains any previously published material or material owned by a third party, the author has obtained the right to use this material by applicable law or has obtained a transferable license from the copyright holder.
- If the study is under evaluation, accepted, or published in a scientific journal, the author will consult the respective editorial office regarding copyright and license issues. The author will acknowledge in writing (e.g., on a slide or poster, not limited to verbal acknowledgment) the interim (i.e. between abstract submission and congress presentation) acceptance/publication of the study in a scientific journal during their presentation at ECR 2027.
- Consent to submit has been received explicitly from all co-authors, as well as from the responsible authorities —tacitly or explicitly— at the institute/organisation where the work has been carried out before it is submitted.
Guidelines for the use of large language models by authors
- AI or AI-assisted tools do not qualify as authors, only humans do.
- Authors are fully responsible for the entire content of their work.
- Authors are fully responsible for disclosing which parts of their work have been created by or with the assistance of AI:
- AI tools used to generate results should be described in detail in the methods section.
- AI tools used for writing and content editing of the abstract (i.e., editing, grammar, readability, word limit adherence, etc.) should be disclosed by checking the AI tool usage box during submission. This is permitted and does not constitute an ethical issue.*

- To protect sensitive information, take into account that if unpublished research is uploaded to information-retaining AI-assisted tools, such as ChatGPT, confidentiality of your research cannot be assured.

New registration: As soon as you create an account, your ESR Personal ID will be sent to your account’s email address. You can sign up for an account by clicking here.
Existing account: You can obtain your ESR Personal ID and account information via the “Reset Password” link on the submission front page. You will receive a “reset password link” via email, which you can use to reset your password.

During the abstract submission, you can choose from the following abstract types:
- Oral Presentation (Research Presentation Session, Clinical Trials in Radiology).
- Poster Presentation (EPOS™, EuroSafe Imaging, EIBIR Booth Session).
- Student Presentation (Student Sessions will take place as part of the student programme of the congress).
The Programme Planning Committee will select the most suitable final presentation format for each accepted abstract. This will be communicated together with the decision notification in December 2026.
The upload of up to 10 images is possible for poster presentations. Other abstract types are not eligible for image upload.
The abstract body is limited to 280 words.
The abstract submission works with any current browser, including but not limited to current versions of Chrome, Firefox, Edge and Safari.
